Family Outreach
At the heart of our life as God’s family is Jesus’ call to love God and love our neighbors. That love turns us outward, beyond the walls of the church and into the community God has placed around us.
Members of our church family serve and care for others in countless ways throughout our community. But we also believe we are called to reach outward together. Every local expression of Jesus’ one Church has particular gifts, relationships, and opportunities through which it can serve its neighbors and bear witness to the love of God. At Holy Spirit, we seek to discern where God is already at work around us and how, as a church family, he is calling us to join him there.
If you would like to learn more about our outreach or find ways to get involved, please contact the church office.
Outreach Committee
At Holy Spirit, outreach is part of how we steward what God has given us. Ten percent of all monetary offerings received by the church is set aside for outreach, allowing our giving to extend beyond the ministries and needs of our own church family.
Each quarter, members of our church family gather to prayerfully determine how these funds will be distributed. Through this shared discernment, we support both global missionaries proclaiming and demonstrating the Gospel around the world and local nonprofit organizations doing good in our own community.
Our Neighbors: O’Rourke Elementary
Sometimes loving your neighbor begins with looking across the street. O’Rourke Elementary School is our neighbor—literally! As a church family, we are building an ongoing relationship with the school, looking for simple and practical ways to support its teachers, staff, students, and families.
Sometimes that means opening our parking lot for overflow parking during school events. Sometimes it means collecting classroom supplies that teachers need but their budgets don't cover. We work with the PTO as needs arise—from providing lunch for teachers preparing for a new school year to serving as short-order cooks and making grilled cheese sandwiches during Open House.
And sometimes loving our neighbors simply means celebrating with them! On the first and last days of school, we turn our parking lot into an Ice Cream Drive-Thru, sending O’Rourke families into the school year—and into summer—with a little sweetness and a lot of smiles. See the fun we have in this video.
Our hope is simple: to be good and faithful neighbors, paying attention to the needs right across the street and finding ways our church family can meet them together.
